This past Friday, spouses of T-1 students and IPs (instructor pilots) were invited to take a ride in the mighty T-1. It was a very neat experience. I got a little glimpse of what Kyle does every day. I've always been proud of him, but this made me appreciate his work a little more. I flew with 4 of my really good friends, and while it was fun, it took a lot out of me also. We flew in formation with another plane and practiced air refueling (something Kyle hasn't even done yet). I thought flying in formation in the T-1 was intense (there were some turns that were more extreme than expected), but it was nothing to what Kyle did in the T-6. No wonder he came home looking wiped out every day! Some of us got a little queasy (and a few of us, including myself, took some Dramamine!) from the turns and such, but we didn't need to use the "air sickeness" bag that was so kindly given to us before the flight. All in all it was fun and a very neat experience that I am glad I have, but I don't think I would do it again any time soon.

Me listening to radio calls and such over the headset.
A view of Laughlin (aka home) from the air. Looks pretty small huh?

The other plane flying formation off our wing.

Practicing air refueling. We are about 10 feet from the bottom of that plane.
