Day 3

Well it is day 3 of Mr. Jackson's life and things are going well. Mom and baby were discharged from the hospital on Sunday evening and we all travelled home for the first time. Mugsy was eager to to greet us. Amy went in first to try and calm him down, not that it mattered because it was some time before he even realized we brought a baby into the house. Jackson and daddy hung out while Amy took Mugsy on a walk to try and settle him down. Since then Mugsy has been very calm with the baby, mostly just sniffing him and his blanket. I'm not sure what he thinks yet about all of this. Last night was pretty good. Besides waking up Jackson to get fed, everyone sleep very soundly and no one missed the hospital beds. We all took it easy this morning, ate our breakfast and went to our first pediatrician's appointment. The doctors says that Jackson is a perfectly healthy little baby. After that we went out for hot dogs down in Summerville, cause they're awesome and came home for some R&R. Anyway, I have uploaded to quick videos we took and posted more pictures on the web album. Enjoy!

Jackson Edward Tobin

He's here! Jackson Edward Tobin, born 5:18 on Friday, August 27th. Baby Jackson wieghs 7 lbs 6 oz and measures 19.5 inches long. He has a long way to go to catch up to dad. Both mom and baby are healthy and doing great. As I write this post, Jackson is not even a day old and yet he is already showing his strong personality. He likes his hands in the up position (something we saw in the ultrasounds) and it takes a pretty fierce swaddle to keep those strong arms down. He is also a very vocal young man, or as I like to say, passionate. This is a real treat at night when we are trying to get some sleep, but Amy and I would have it no other way. Amy says he looks like me, but I think he looks like a baby, so whose to tell. Jackson and his mom are bonding well, obviously spending lots of time together and getting to know each other. Amy has been so great with him. She is very patient, relaxed, and soothing. She is the perfect mom. I have been trying to help wherever I can, changing diapers and carrying Jackson over to mom. I really haven't done much and yet I feel exhausted. I know Amy has to be at least twice as tired, but she is a real trooper. Oh funny note, he has already pooped on Amy twice, hehe. I am in the clear so far, but I have the feeling my days are nubmered. So we should be leaving tomorrow (Sunday) and return home for the first time as a new family. I should note that I have gone home a couple times to take care of Mugsy. He is excited to see me (of course) but increasingly unhappy about me just leaving him all day. I plan on taking one of Jackson's blankets home tonight and letting Mugsy get used his smell. Well that's all I have for know. Down below I included a link to an online photo album were you can view more baby pictures. Thank you everyone for all your prayers. The Lord has really blessed us with this child and given us a great respnsibility in raising him up. Please continue to pray for our patience and wisdom as we venture in parenthood.

Tomorrow.

Whether he likes it or not, little man is coming tomorrow!

Actually, the doctor said it would be just fine.  I am already dilated some so the doc said an induction would take just fine, and since I am intensely uncomfortable and tomorrow is actually the little dude's due date, she felt no qualms about inducing.  Yay!  We are so excited to meet this little guy and are praying for a smooth delivery and healthy baby tomorrow!

On another note, Kyle said he would take over blog responsibilities for at least a couple of days, so he will be posting some pictures as soon as he can/remembers.

NVG Ops

Took a couple pictures through my NVGs on a local this week. I thought some folks might think they look cool, so enjoy.

Still playing the waiting game...

Well, seeing as we have no baby yet, I thought you might like to see his nursery.  It is pretty much complete (except that I want to put his name above the crib - which is cliche, I know, but I like it so whatever, and some pictures that can't be put up until he comes because he will be in them).    We don't really have a "theme" per se.  I was mostly going for the colors:  blues with a pop of red in places.  But, since Daddy is a pilot, we had to have some airplanes in there too.  So, here it is:

View from the door.  Closet is to the left.  I painted that art above my chair (Kyle helped, he drew out the C-17 silloutte for me).

Standing next to the crib and the closet.  The little airplanes on the dresser are little wooden "puzzles" from Michaels that were a dollar a piece.  So, Mommy painted one and Daddy painted the other).  The pictures I was referring to above are going above the changing table, kind of over that basket I think.  We'll see what they actually look like, but they are essentially going in that spot.

The painting over my chair.

And, just for grins, here is a picture of me last week at 38 weeks:

I am actually 39 weeks, and I will try to remember to post a picture of that tomorrow.

Waiting.

Still no baby.  Went to the doctor last week and she thought I had about another week, maybe less.  I was (and still am) hoping for less.  But, this guy seems pretty comfortable even though mommy is most definitely not.  Keep your fingers crossed that very soon I will be able to post pictures of our little guy for you!

This and that...

Well, last time I posted we were in Oklahoma.  I have been back for a few weeks now and Kyle got back about a week and a half ago.  He completed his training (and did very well if I do say so myself) and is now back in the squadron "working the desk" - he is doing his desk job. That means he is working long hours during the week, but it also means he shouldn't leave until the baby comes.  Yay!

Since I have been back, there have been baby showers galore (one for me and the rest for all of my other friends having babies this month) and that has been a lot of fun.  I also decided to donate my hair.  Actually, I have been wanting to do that for a long time, I just wanted it to get long enough to be able to donate it without having to go too terribly short.  I donated about 11 inches and it is still at my collar bone (you can see it in the pictures in the next post about Baby T and the belly progress).

Other than that it has mostly been life as usual and getting things ready for our little one to arrive.  His nursery is almost finished and when we (mostly I) put the finishing touches on it, I will post more pictures.  As he is coming this month sometime, I will really try to be better about posting more pictures.  But like I said, other than that it has been life as usual and it is so nice to have Kyle around for a while :)

There is a post dedicated to Baby T below, so keep reading.... :)

Baby T Update

It is August!  That means Kyle and I will be parents this month!  We are really excited for the arrival of our little guy and can't wait to meet him.  I am now a couple of days beyond 36 weeks, so technically he could come any time after the end of this week!  People keep asking if I am ready.  Are we ready for parenthood:  As ready as I will ever be.  How do you really and truly prepare for that?  We are just relying on the Lord and His wisdom for us as parents, and beyond that, it seems like a lot of on the job training.  Am I physically ready for his arrival:  What I have decided is that when he is ready, then I am definitely ready.  I still feel pretty good.  I find it really hard to complain about being pregnant since I/we are so thankful for this little guy, but yes, I am hot (the "feels like" temp here has been 105+ for quite a while now) and my back hurts.  But like I said, I am so thankful for this little one that it will all be worth it and forgotten when I see his face.  I haven't posted pictures in a while, so here are a few from the past month-ish.

32 weeks

34 weeks

Taken today at 36 weeks and 2 days

Also, for those of you dying to know the name, you are going to have to wait until he comes at this point.  We have a favorite and 2 others and we will see when he makes his arrival what we are going to call him.  Sorry.  But you have waited this long, you can wait a few more weeks :)
