My mom sent me this email and I thought it was funny...
"Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White
House. One is from Chicago, another is from Tennessee, and the third
is from Minnesota.
All three go with a White House official to examine the fence. The
Minnesota contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring,
then works some figures with a pencil. "Well," he says, "I figure the
job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100
profit for me."
The Tennessee contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then
says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my
crew and $100 profit for me."
The Chicago contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to
the White House official and whispers, "$2,700."
The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the
other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"
The Chicago contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you,
and we hire the guy from Tennessee to fix the fence."
"Done!" replies the government official.
And that, my friends, is how the new stimulus plan will work."

Hmmm
So, when I turned on the tv for my daily dose of the news, I see that stock futures across the board are down to a 6 year low (which leads me to believe that in the coming days/weeks it will just continue to drop). A big part of the reason for the low, says business experts, is the "stimulus package" that was signed earlier this week. If I may quote one of these experts, "There is a sense that this administration and congress lurched to the left and do not have a grasp of good economics. Good politics, yes, good economics, no." Comforting no?

We're still here
Just not a whole lot going on. I had my final doctor's appointment yesterday, for a while at least. He said everything is pretty much "back to normal". So, that's that. We very much intend on trying again, we just don't know when, mostly because of the deployment schedule. Truthfully, we haven't talked about it much. We both want to, but we were more focused on getting through the last couple of weeks and healing before we move on to other things.
Other than that, Kyle is on a trip right now and should be back in a week or so. We are also really looking forward to my family coming to visit in about a month. My parents came in October, but this time my brothers get to come too. I am very excited to see them; this has been the longest amount of time I have gone without seeing my family, especially my brothers.
That's about it for us. Thanks for sticking with us :)

Small update.
My blood work results came back yesterday. My hormone levels went down, and basically this pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage. Even though this was the outcome we had expected, it was still a hard day because of the finality of it. We are following up with the doctor on Monday. So,that's that.
I will say this though: God is always praise worthy. As our pastor said in a sermon last week, its very easy to praise God when things are good and happy, but even when they are not, we should still be praising God. Our world's definition of blessing (something good happening to you) isn't always what God's definition is. In the sermon on the mount (Matt. 5), Jesus talks of attributes of those who are blessed. But they are attributes that the world does not value, and in fact the world says the opposite. Does the world value people who are poor in spirit, who mourn, who are gentle, who seek righteousness, who are merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers, and those who are persecuted? Not really, but God does, as Jesus was all of these things.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I still feel very blessed despite our circumstances. I do not feel abandoned by God because this happened. In fact, He has been here walking with us and comforting us during a very painful situation. And I am thankful for that. I am also very thankful for Kyle and his gentleness towards me, I am thankful to know that we can have children in the future, and I am thankful for our friends and family who have been very supportive of us, just to name a few things.
I guess I wrote all that so you all would know that even though we are still very saddened by the whole situation, we are doing ok. I think we are dealing with this in a healthy manner, and I don't want people to think that because we don't really want to talk about it that we are sinking into a pit of despair. Its just really difficult to talk about, but its nothing personal towards you if we don't have a whole lot to say. Thank you again for all of your prayers, they have definitely been felt.

Unfortunately, we did not receive good news at the doctor this morning. They still could not see a heart beat on the ultrasound and things do not look very hopeful. They took a blood sample today and are going to compare it to one they will take Friday for hormone levels. There is still a possibility those could come back normal, in which case we would just wait and see. If not, then basically the pregnancy has failed. I can't think of a better way to put it than that.
Obviously, this is a very difficult thing to hear and deal with. We would appreciate prayers for us and for a possible miracle, but please, at this point no advice or words of comfort. Even the kindest words have a sting to them right now. I do not mean to offend anyone, I know you mean nothing but the best, we (especially I) need some time to process and deal with this on our/my own. Thank you for understanding, and for your love and support. Even amidst the heartbreaking pain, I am very thankful to the Lord for this experience and for all of you.

Just kidding...
So, I had my first OB appointment today and we found out that I am not as far along as the clinic had originally estimated. I have to say, I am not that surprised. But it was disappointing that we couldn't really see anything on the ultrasound. I am measuring 7 weeks, and the doctor couldn't see the heartbeat this week. So, we are going back next week to look for the heartbeat again. I was disappointed and a little upset that we couldn't see the heartbeat. I'll keep you updated next week.

At least we can laugh about it...
Aggie football last year that is. A friend of mine, who coincidentally went to Baylor, sent this to me. You have to have a sense of humor right?
